As the second largest country in Latin America and the fourth largest by population, Argentina commands a critical role in the region. In the past several decades, however, Argentina has fallen from its status as one of the wealthiest countries in the world, frequently coming into conflict with foreign creditors over debt repayments. This turbulence has left its mark on Argentina’s external cultural policy (ECP). While it retains some of the appeal of its earlier “glory years” and remains a voice for developing countries in the area, economic austerity has cur[1]tailed its ECP potential substantially.
