During the Arab Spring and the COVID-19 pandemic, mobile internet spread in the region by leaps and bounds. The pandemic also created new kinds of relationships between social actors and set a milestone in terms of audience media use. This creates positive, but also negative impacts on cultural diversity and intercultural relations due to the lack of access for some.
