Argentina

Country Report

As the second largest country in Latin America and the fourth largest country by population, Argentina plays a key role in the region. However, Argentina has lost its status as one of the richest countries in the world in recent decades. There have been repeated conflicts with foreign creditors over the repayment of debts. This turbulence has left its mark, not least on Argentina's foreign cultural policy. The country has retained some of the appeal of its earlier "glory years" and continues to be a mouthpiece for developing countries in the region. However, the economic austerity measures have considerably diminished Argentina's foreign cultural policy potential.
