Country Report
The German ECP (AKBP) serves to ensure friendly relations with other countries and to promote the German language and culture abroad. While it traditionally served to boost trade relations, post-Zeitenwende ECP may focus more on security relations. Germany is renowned for its “arm’s length” institutions, which which receive government support but are not directly controlled by politics. This has traditionally given its ECP both financial security and the perception of independence abroad.
