Indonesia

Country Report

Indonesia is not only geographically very diverse, but also in terms of its numerous ethnic groups, languages and religions. As a regional middle power with an emerging economy, Indonesia has redefined its role as a cultural diplomacy player in recent years. With new government agencies and international programmes, Indonesia is slowly expanding its physical presence abroad beyond diplomatic missions. Through mobility programmes, language courses and international schools, Indonesia is seeking to increase the visibility of the country and its cultures internationally, thereby strengthening its bargaining power and influence. Domestically, international involvement is also an key investment in Indonesia's human capital.
