Culture and religion implicitly determine how reality is interpreted and perceived. They shape values as well as patterns of perception and thinking. Politics must mediate between global and local concerns – and be aware of the fundamental differences between religious identities. Different identities can be a source of cooperation, but also of fierce conflict.
