The constitutional objectives on promoting democracy and humanitarian principles are echoed in its external cultural policy (ECP) as well. Switzerland endeavours to positively influence its perception abroad through strategic communication. The aim is to safeguard the country's interests and support economic growth. An overarching goal is to position Switzerland as one of the world's leading countries in research and innovation. Science diplomacy is arguably Switzerland's strongest asset – for more than five years in a row, Switzerland has been voted the most innovative country in the world.
