Thailand

Country Report

As the only country in Southeast Asia to escape colonialism, Thailand has preserved a distinctive culture. Since 2014, the government has prioritised social welfare and integration. It seeks to build Thailand's national identity on a strong Buddhist culture by promoting "Thai values". The Thailand 4.0 vision includes a 20-year national strategy to become a high-income country by 2037. Therefore, education and science diplomacy that promote international co-operation are an essential part of Thailand's external cultural policy (ECP). Regional co-operation and exchange with ASEAN countries is also a priority for Thailand.
