Conference Report
The cultural integration of migrants and minorities into European societies is an everyday task. However, political debates in Europe are focussing more on the political and economic dimensions of the issue. Cultural institutes are therefore important players in this area of social development. At a conference in Brussels, academics and practitioners discussed the following questions: Is cultural integration just a question of language and religion? What role do national identities and prejudices play? What concepts for the integration of migrants exist in different parts of Europe? Should joint efforts be made to promote the cultural integration of migrants? What contribution can cultural institutions make to the integration of migrants?
