The Role of Artists and Cultural Actors in Regions of Conflict and Crisis
There is a growing awareness that art and culture make an important contribution to the development of individuals and societies. At its 2010 World Conference on Cultural Education in Seoul, UNESCO emphasised the social dimension of cultural education and cultural mediation and, since 2005, has created an international legal basis for cultural policy action with a corresponding convention, which also explicitly refers to international relations. But how can the connection between "culture and development" be defined even more precisely and anchored in the development policy discourse?
